Jürgen Frenz, living in Beijing / People's Republic of China. Wide range of professional capacities and teaching experience.

After working in Paris / France in studios and post production facilities on synclavier from 1988 - 1996 I moved to South East Asia and worked as a producer for sound tracks and CDs in Singapore and Malaysia.

In the year 2000 I was invited to start teaching music production and sound design at a film school in Singapore. While teaching I developed a qualification in digital film editing on Final Cut Pro and made a first short film. Parallel to my teaching I continued to be active in music production and audio post.

In 2004 I followed an invitation to the Beijing Film Academy where I teach until today. After a nomination as associate professor I teach both graduate and post graduate students.

Moving to Beijing was a blessing professionally in that I have more opportunities to do industry work on one hand and develop competencies related to my teaching on the other. BFA has state of the art equipment, the finest microphones and studio equipment that are made in the world and Beijing has a thriving art environment.

In the past few years I recorded in surround several classical orchestral performances and was involved in a few contemporary recordings and CD projects of which I produced one. Intrigued by possibilities of computer animation together with sound I started to study and teach Puredata where I'm in the process to develop a hexaphonic synthesis environment for guitar. Eventually I will expand that to control live video simultaneously with sound.
Due to my interest and teaching I'm a beta tester for Metasynth which is one of the most remarkable synthesis software packages available.
