ANY SOUND YOU CAN IMAGINE... this title
of a book is very much my approach to sound and music.

- there's not much there yet but
I'm working on it.
I'm using Puredata both for my own
projects and teaching. These are some
projects that I'm working on.

November 2009 - Vocode with Shebby

A model of the classic vocoder where the modulator is passing
through a
series (64 in this case) of very narrow bandwidth filters in order to
analyze the harmonic content of the incoming sound. Different from the
classic model the resulting level-per-bandwidth information does not
pass onto a carrier sound but rather they define the levels of an
additive chebychev oscillator (read
Wikipedia about Chebychev polynomials). It only requires to define
a fundamental of the oscillator.
The polyphonic version (here with 3 voices, the right hand for simple
pianists) doesn't have a good speech comprehension as the monophonic
version that I'm more interested in (for my guitar patches). Here's the
patch
to download - please note that it requires Pd-extended.
If you are interested in the monophonic version please mail me.

PLAYING WITH INTEGER HARMONIC
An older patch - I was quite amazed by the possibilities of the
chebychev oscillator - here's my first experimentation with it. There
are just 8 harmonics that constantly fade in and out at different
levels with a little but of reverb on it. The patch is here (requires
Pd-extended).
